Elon Musk’s Changes at Twitter Garner Lots of Backlash
American billionaire Elon Musk has been a hot topic
recently, after he has been making some big money decisions that the general
public don’t exactly agree with. After having a few words to say about the
popular social media platform, Twitter, Musk decided to buy the company and
make the changes he desired.
However, these changes were not accepted with open arms as
they were met with backlash by both Twitter users and employees. In fact, a
good majority of Twitter employees quit after they did not agree with the way
that Musk ran things in the office. Let’s take a look at some changes Musk made
to Twitter that received mixed reactions:
Feed
Curation
One of the biggest changes made to Twitter was the fact that
you can now choose to have a more curated feed or one that consists of just
people you follow. While this is otherwise a really good change, it had some
major technical problems. For instance, users noticed how their feed would
change curations on its own without the user making any changes themselves.
Controversial
Renewals
Another major change to the platform included how Musk
unbanned several major accounts that were previously banned due to posting
controversial Tweets. Among these users included ex-President, Donald Trump.
This decision was met with a lot of backlash as users were not fans of this
American President. However, Musk wanted to create a platform for free speech.
Twitter
Blue
If you’d like to view a more Premium version of Twitter, you
can now subscribe to Twitter Blue. This is a subscription service that allows
you to have an almost ad-free experience along with a boosted visibility to
your followers. Twitter users had mixed reactions as some believed this was a
great feature while others believed that this is something that should’ve been
free.
Silver
& Gold Ticks
Blue ticks on Twitter are a thing of the past and are now
seen as a legacy stamp to show that you’ve been on the platform for a long
time. The platform now has silver ticks and gold ticks. Silver ticks are for
brands while gold ticks are for government figures. Users were not happy about
how the platform is no longer as simple as it used to be.
