Exclusive Interview with Barbara Ann Reincke, Ms. Super Senior Universe
Barbara Ann Reincke is Ms. Super Senior Universe, having been crowned in Las Vegas during the 2022 Ms. Senior USA/Ms. Senior Universe Pageant. She is the proud “Mom” to four generations of pageant queens, including her great-granddaughter and “Rising Star,” six-year-old Leana. After raising four children, Barbara earned a degree as a physician’s assistant, then worked for many years in the emergency room at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, WA. At the age of eighty-three, Barbara still lights up the stage with her baton-twirling and dance performances, decked out in the sparkly cowgirl attire of her beloved home state of Texas, where she resides. She passionately believes in finding one’s vision, thinking big, staying active, and helping others enjoy life.
What are some major achievements or accolades that you have accumulated?
I have been a dedicated caregiver for most of my life. Following my work at the VA Hospital, I took care of my mom during her final three years of life, and my dad for his last five years, then cared for two husbands while they were in hospice care prior to their deaths. I served as district manager for many Walmart Studios for seven years, then transferred to Mississippi, where I had the honor of representing the state as Ms. Mississippi USA. I was then crowned Ms. Super Senior USA, and Ms. Super Senior Universe. I am honored to be a 2022 Multi-Pageant Global Beauty Awards Finalist in the Best Parent category.
I overcame a severe speech impediment early in life. I was born two months premature and did not speak until the age of three. Though I was forced to work extremely hard to communicate, I never gave up – I am, and always will be, a survivor.
Who or what motivates or inspires you to do the work you do?
I am inspired by people, and hope that what I do inspires them. I want to motivate and encourage Seniors everywhere. I remarried in August 2018 and aim to keep going for as long as the good Lord gives me breath. I believe that we are never too old to do the things we love to do. I try to bring to the table my wisdom, experience, good heart, and the knowledge that we can be survivors and warriors. We have but one life to live; we should live it as if this day will be our last but learn as if we are going to live forever.
What are some projects that you are currently working on or promoting?
In 2 days, I will be traveling to Europe to promote Ms. Senior Universe.
What is your goal in your career/life?
Staying active and at the age of ninety taking the final crown of Grande Dame Universe while enjoying my kids, grand kids, and great-grand kids.
What is a cause that you are passionate about and how do you contribute toward its advancement?
I am passionate about encouraging Seniors to be the best they can be, and never accepting that they must slow down. Although we all deal with physical issues as we age, we can keep a cheerful outlook, and keep trying new things. I am hoping that my new title will say it best: I am a “Super Senior,” and proud of it!
Why should our readers support you and your brand?
I bring some valuable life experiences to the party. I overcame a lot to even be able to speak and have dealt with the loss of many loved ones in my years on the planet. But I still retain an incredibly positive outlook, the best years are still ahead of me, and that I can serve as a role model for Seniors everywhere.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
The Ms. Senior Universe will be held at the Villages!
