The Promising Stars of The 2022 Olympics
We are just a few days away from the start of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics games, and as the world’s top athletes all converge in the Chinese capital, several names rank among the rest as one of the best and most promising starts to look out for during the iconic sporting event. Here are five incredible competitors who will be joining the 2022 Olympics which we think you should stay tuned for soon.
5. Katie Ormerod
Almost missing the Winter Olympics in 2014 at the young age of 16, Katie Ormerod’s motivation to succeed started at a very early time in her career. And during the same year, Ormerod made snowboarding history by becoming the first female snowboarding athlete to accomplish the extremely difficult double cork 1080 maneuver. Four years later, Ormerod suffered a heel injury which put her out of action for the then-upcoming Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics for which she was described as “Britain’s best shot” at a medal — she has then turned things around in 2020 by becoming the first British snowboarder to win a World Cup. Ormerod’s determination is a must-see in the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

Hanyu is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Another Dutch speed skater to look out for in the Olympics is Ireen Wüst. Already proclaimed an Olympic legend at the age of 35, Wüst is a force to be reckoned with. Known for several titles such as the most decorated speed skater of all time and the youngest Dutch Olympic Champion, the five-time gold medalist and two-time Dutch Sportswoman of the Year is a remarkable competitor that fellow Olympians should keep a keen eye on this 2022.
1. Natalie Geisenberger
The 33-year-old German athlete Natalie Geisenberger is known to many as the most decorated female Olympic luger of all time with four gold medals and one bronze medal. Debuting in the Olympics in 2010 at Vancouver, Geisenberger has collected numerous accolades in her renowned career, winning six gold and four silver medals in the FIL European Luge Championships, fifteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships (nine gold, four silver, two bronze) and the much-coveted Luge World Cup in the 2020 - 2021 season. All eyes are on Geisenberger as Beijing 2022 may be her last Olympic appearance.
